Certified Athletic Therapists CAT(C) are experts in treating acute and chronic injuries to muscles, bones, and joints. They follow the Sports Medicine Model of care and treat a broad range of clients from elite athletes to weekend warriors. They also work in the area of injury prevention and are considered experts in Exercise Rehabilitation. You can also find them working with National, Regional or local sports teams or at sports events providing emergency and acute care and in clinic settings providing hands on treatments in conjunction with exercise rehab. Some Athletic Therapists go on to further their education like Eryn Freeman has and offer IASTR (tool work), joint mobilizations, hands on soft tissue treatment, and myofascial release.Â
Areas of expertise include: Injury Prevention, Injury Assessment, Emergency and Acute Care on field. Treatment which may include; modalities such as IFC, TENS, joint mobilization, soft tissue release, and taping, rehabilitation, including exercise prescription and potential lifestyle or sport modification.Â
A CSEP-Clinical Exercise Physiologist:Â performs assessments, prescribes conditioning exercise, as well as exercise supervision, counseling and healthy lifestyle education in apparently healthy individuals and/or populations with medical conditions, functional limitations or disabilities associated with musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, metabolic, neuromuscular, and aging conditions.
